A ZERO Prostate Cancer Support Group

Our ZERO prostate cancer support group provides information and inspiration to prostate cancer patients and caregivers at all stages of the disease, from the newly diagnosed to the long-time survivor.

We meet twice each month—online via Zoom on the third Wednesday, and in person on the fourth Wednesday, Some people attend both meetings, but many choose one or the other. Meetings are free, volunteer led, and do not provide individual medical advice. Meetings last no more than two hours.

Next Meeting

Our next Zoom meeting is on Wednesday, May 20, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Pacific Time. The first hour will be a general discussion regarding prostate cancer. This is a chance to learn from one another's lived experiences and to provide shared support.

At 7 pm we will be joined by our guest speaker. This month's guest is Lisa Price, ND. She will be speaking on the value of integrative medicine for prostate cancer patients.

Dr. Price received her medical degree at Bastyr University and now practices at the Sloan Clinic at Fred Hutch, where she provides complementary and integrative medicine to support patients with cancer. Her focus is on safe and science-informed practices, such as culinary nutrition, mind-body techniques, exercise and review of any supplements to make sure they’re not interacting with prescribed medications. In addition to studying turkey tail, reishi and lion’s mane mushrooms for their mechanisms of action, she haswritten nutrition-focused cookbooks for patients living through cancer treatment.

Please contact the meeting organizer at marty@chakoian.com for the Zoom link.

Our next in-person meeting will be on Wednesday, May 27, at the Greenwood Senior Center, 525 N 85th Street in Seattle. That meeting also begins at 6 pm and will end by 8:00.

In-person meetings are smaller and more intimate. We do not have guest speakers or doctors at our in-person meetings and do not provide medical advice, but focus on listening and supporting on another on our cancer journeys.
